Namibia Archives Application Launched

The Namibia National Commission for Unesco Partners with the National Information Workers Association of Namibia (NIWAN) to Develop a National Archival Application.

This application is a digital platform that aims to enhance access to historical records from various archival institutions in Namibia. The Namibia National Commission for UNESCO has generously sponsored the development of this application WORTH  of N$ 380,000.00.

The App   is developed to make archival information from different archival institutions easily accessible and thus highlight the rich documentary heritage being preserved at different institutions. 

The Namibia Archival Application was launched by the Honourable Deputy Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Hon. Faustina N. Caley on the 24th of January 2024 at the National Archives of Namibia.

The launch of this app. is a crucial milestone in NIWAN’s commitment to supporting the preservation of our cultural heritage and fostering a better understanding of our shared past.

NIWAN believes that the Namibia Archival Application is a significant advancement towards making historical information more accessible and engaging to all.

It has advanced search functionality, enabling users to quickly and accurately locate specific documents and make bookings of those records at a time convenient to the user.

The user-friendly interface ensures that both novice and experienced researchers can navigate the application effortlessly.

The application is accessible on both smart devices, providing seamless access to the catalogues or finding Aids of various Archival institutions.
